Annual Goals, Responsibilities

Annual Board Responsibilities and 2026-2027 Goals

  1. Student Success – The Trustees will provide leadership to support and encourage a culture of student success at Citrus College.
    1. The Trustees will review comprehensive reports, disaggregated data, and metrics used by the college to monitor student achievement.
    2. The Trustees will attend student achievement celebrations and events on campus to show their support of student success.
    3. The Trustees will encourage and support the exploration and development of programs or resources, including responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), that increase the persistence and completion rates of students.

  2. Community Relations – The Trustees will be ambassadors for Citrus College in their communities.
    1. The Trustees will be actively involved and maintain good relationships with the community, education, and business leaders within their respective trustee areas by attending events, encouraging collaboration, and promoting Citrus College.
    2. The Trustees will invite community members, business, civic and/or school leaders to Community Day and college events.
    3. The Trustees will share their respective communities' educational concerns with Citrus College.
    4. The Trustees will attend and/or present Citrus College updates at local school districts or other community events at least once each academic year.
    5. The Trustees will support the college and the efforts of faculty and staff to expand experiential and work-based learning (e.g., apprenticeships, internships, etc.) by identifying potential business and community partnerships in their communities.
    6. The Trustees will continue campus visits in order to support and learn about the campus to share during community events and presentations.

  3. Collective Equity – The Trustees will support, encourage, and set expectations for equity in access, support, and success.
    1. The Trustees will support the California Community College Chancellor's Vision 2030 to improve the outcomes for all students.
    2. The Trustees will receive regular updates about institutional equity initiatives on the Citrus College campus including disaggregated outcomes, staff, and student demographic trends.

  4. Enrollment – The Trustees will actively monitor the college's progress with respect to enrollment and FTES (Full-Time Equivalent Students).
    1. The Trustees will request enrollment and FTES updates on a regular basis to better understand how FTES impact the college financially and operationally.
    2. The Trustees will request updates about strategies to increase enrollment and FTES.

  5. Facilities and Campus Sustainability – The Trustees will ensure that the facilities and operational practices support our mission of providing students with quality educational experiences.
    1. The Trustees will work to understand the step, process, and timing of Measure Y and other projects in preparing to share updates with their communities.
    2. The Trustees will encourage effective use of resources in promoting a college culture committed to environmental sustainability in support of the Citrus College Sustainability Plan.
    3. The Trustees will encourage campus engagement on climate and environmental sustainability.

  6. Fiscal Health – The Trustees will monitor the district's financial health and provide effective oversight to make sure the District remains fiscally healthy in the long run.
    1. The Trustees will take responsibility for understanding and approving financial reports.
    2. The Trustees will work to understand the state finances/budgeting process, including the student-centered funding formula (SCFF), and how it affects Citrus College.
    3. The Trustees will support the Foundation by donating, attending events, and helping to identify and cultivate potential donors.

  7. Government Relations – The Trustees will seek to advance Citrus College interests in government related matters through education and advocacy.
    1. The Trustees will seek out updates about legislative and budget related initiatives that affect Citrus College, and the California Community College System.
    2. The Trustees will advocate for key federal and state legislative actions that advance the mission and enhance the funding of California's community colleges.
    3. The Trustees will establish legislative priorities on an annual basis.

  8. Innovation – The Trustees will encourage the development and implementation of industry-leading practices that enhance learning, support services, and college operations.
    1. The Trustees will receive updates about new and innovative programs, including the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
    2. The Trustees will encourage and support the development and implementation of practices that enhance learning, support services, and college operations.
    3. The Trustees will support the participatory governance process in the development and implementation of board policies and administrative procedures on Artificial Intelligence (AI).

STUDENT TRUSTEE GOALS

  • The Student Trustee will collaborate with clubs, cultural organizations, and student services to expand inclusive campus traditions supporting new student orientation events, co-hosting heritage month programming, and piloting a peer-ambassador system to help underrepresented students connect with campus life and leadership opportunities.

  • The Student Trustee will launch a "Know Your Resources" campaign highlighting academic support, mental health, and basic needs services, using short video walkthroughs, tabling at high-traffic campus spots, and partnerships with counseling and financial aid staff to reach students who may not otherwise engage with these services.

  • The Student Trustee will work with the ASCC President to track shared governance committee recommendations from proposal to outcome, publishing a short end-of-semester recap so students can see which of their representatives' suggestions were adopted, modified, or tabled, closing the loop between input and action.
